Get excited! Only 5 to go...

We are getting so excited as the days and weeks pass by and our baby's arrival gets closer and closer.  I can't believe our long awaited due date is in just 5 weeks!  When we found out I was pregnant, October seemed so far away and now its right around the corner!!!

This week's update... baby should weigh somewhere around 5 to 6 lbs and be 18 to 20 inches long.  Tomorrow we have our last baby shower thrown by our colleagues at work and then this weekend we will start trying to get the nursery in order and take inventory of what we still need to get before baby arrives.

Maternity Portraits!

Last week we met Lisa Woods (our wedding photographer) for a maternity session and she has already posted them in an online gallery for us to view. Its amazing how many pictures we have from a quick 30 minute session, and you can't even tell that I was melting!  Just fabulous :)

Showered with Love

This weekend the lovely Paula and Seanna hosted a baby shower for me.  Thank you to our friends and family who made the trip for the shower... it was a great time and this baby got lots of fun stuff!  We feel so fortunate.  Paula and Seanna did a great job with the party, the food was delicious and the games were fun.  A special thank you to Katie for the beautiful and delectible cake!  Here are a few photos from the shower...

This weekend was just perfect... we also really enjoyed the extra day off work and the cooler weather!  We are sad that the long weekend has come and gone so quickly but are looking forward to our own fast approaching labor day!!!  This marks the 34th week... only 6 more to go!

Today we had our regular baby check-up and all looks well, so we go back in two more weeks.  This weekend is my birthday so I am definitely looking forward to that.  We have been so busy lately that I haven't had time for the anticipation to build as it normally does, but I am getting excited now!  Troy and I will celebrate Friday night and we will celebrate with my mom and Cliff on Saturday.  I am so happy that they are coming down again this weekend to help get things organized and bring down our glider... right now the nursery is a disaster!

33 Weeks

As of today we have [appoximately] 7 more weeks... I'm hoping for more like 6 more weeks but baby Matus will have the final say in that!  This is going to be a fun and exciting week for us.  Tomorrow evening we are taking some family portraits with Lisa Woods (our wedding photographer) and Saturday is our baby shower!

Slowly but surely we are also getting the nursery ready.  This last weekend we hung a curtain and put away some of the gifts we have already received.  We will have our glider in 2 weeks and then I will post some pictures... so stay tuned it is super cute!

Hip Hip Hooray!

Today we had a follow-up appointment with the maternal/fetal specialist and the sonogram provided only good news!  The fluid on the kidneys has decreased and is now within a normal range and the choroid plexus cyst is gone... we are so thankful for that news!  We also learned that our precious little one already has hair and they estimate that he/she weighs 4 lbs. 5 oz (putting them in the 44th percentile for weight.)  All fabulous news! Tomorrow we have another appointment with our regular obstetrician and I am hopeful that will go just as well. 

We have a busy few weeks ahead of us with Troy's birthday this weekend, baby shower next weekend and my birthday the following weekend.  We will be celebrating lots of birthdays over the next several weeks and we most anxiously await the BIRTHday of our little sweetie!  We're getting so close :)

30 weeks!

The countdown has begun as we have 10 more weeks (+/-) until we finally get to meet our sweet baby!  Today we had our baby check-up and everything looks good.  I passed my glucose test, the iron supplement I have been taking has brought my iron levels up so I am no longer anemic and the baby's heart rate and activity levels look good.  All around a good bill of health!

Catch-Up

I can't believe it has been a month since I have written about what is going on in our world!  A lot has happened over the last several weeks.

We had another sonogram to check the baby's bladder and the choroid plexus cyst, both were unchanged which is a good thing so we will go back August 25th for another follow-up to check them both again.  Unfortunately we do not have any pictures from last months sonogram because our little one was head down and backwards facing... and not at all interested in turning for the camera!  That's okay with me though, I would be happy if he/she stays in that position at this point since we are inching ever closer to delivery day!!!

At our regular doctor visit last month everything checked out great.  Our next appointment is August 9th which is just next week... then we start going every two weeks and then every week!  I can not believe I will be 30 weeks into this pregnancy next week... time has certainly flown by.

In other news, our last birthing class is this Sunday so we are feeling well prepared for the birth of our baby at this point.  We feel positive and empowered to have the natural birth we desire, but also understand the need to be flexible... Now we just need to come up with some names before this little one arrives! :)

Over the past few weeks we have been working on the baby registry too... my goodness I had no idea how overwhelming that was going to be!  My friends Paula and Seanna are hosting a baby shower here in Austin on September 3rd and I would love to have all of our family and friends gather for the occasion!

Our 4-legged baby Molly has had an eventful few weeks as well.  Earlier in July she hurt her leg jumping off a chair and we had to keep her from jumping, climbing stairs, etc for a week or so until it healed... that was quite the task!  She recovered from that in time for her birthday on July 28th... she turned 3!  Then a few days later we noticed some strange behavior and took her in to see the vet.  She has calcium crystals in her bladder which have caused a bladder infection and a staff infection on the outside from the irritation.  Poor little girl... she has been traumatized with all the tests, antibiotic sprays, pills and new prescription diet!  Hopefully she will be well again very soon!
