Last week was a bit more exciting than we would have liked. It was Troy's first week back to work, but fortunately Ethan and I had my mom in town for the week to help out. We would end up needing the extra help more than we expected. On Thursday morning (10/24) our sweet little boy had a fever and the pediatrician sent us to Dell Children's Hospital to have him checked out. This is apparently how they routinely handle fever in babies under a month old. That visit was traumatizing for us all- Ethan had to have a catheder to collect a urine sample, have blood drawn, have a spinal tap to collect spinal fluid and have an IV to receive antibiotics. After much poking and proding and an overnight stay we were able to return home Friday evening. The doctors said the fluids they collected were free of bacteria so his fever was related to a stomach virus most likely. On Monday, we followed-up with his regular pediatrician and he got a good bill of health. We are so happy that is behind us, but are thankful for all the precautionary measures they take to ensure our baby's health!
He is a trooper.. here are a few pics of him looking cute as ever at the hospital!
